Enjoy a day of crisp autumn air while experiencing history as it comes to life at Walnut Grove Plantation. Recapture the past by participating in basketry, blacksmithing, candledripping, doll making, dyeing, quilting, soapmaking, spinning, weaving and a wide variety of colonial skills demonstrated by craftsmen in period clothing.

oo

Be swept back to the Revolutionary 1780 western front when "Bloody Bill" Cunningham, a deserter of the American cause, attacked Walnut Grove Plantation. Captain Cunningham and his desperate band of tories will re-enact the raid on Walnut Grove to murder Captain Steadman and two other American Patriots.

Witness the brave heroine, Kate Barry, warn her husband and his troops of the attack...too late to save Captain Steadman and his friends...but in time to keep the house from being burned.

Annual Candlelight Tour at Ninety Six National Historic Park

New this year!

1 pm to 4 pm:
Living History around the Black
Swan Tavern.

1 pm:
Ranger led battlefield tour (meet at the Black Swan Tavern).

8 pm:
DVD: Ninety Six: A Frontier Crossroad will stop showing. It will be available from 8 am until 8 pm only.

If you have scouts or a group of 20 or more, please email or call (864-543-4068) the park by Friday, October 6 to register.

Tours begin at 7 pm & leave every 10 mins.
The last Tour will leave at 8:20 pm.
The Visitor Center will be open 8 am to 9 pm.

Guided tours proceed along the one-mile historic trail, which is illuminated by the soft glow of candlelight and torchlight. Along the way, costumed volunteers portray Colonial citizens and soldiers who tell stories of peace and war at old Ninety Six in the 1700’s. The haunting sounds of musket fire and fife & drums in the darkness will help you relive an exciting period of this frontier outpost. It’s an unusual program you will want to experience with the whole family!

We will remember the soldiers that fought and died here by illuminating the Patriot siegeworks and the historic Loyalist Star Fort with a luminary for each Patriot and Loyalist life lost during the 1781 battle. Likewise at our Stockade Fort, we will honor the first Patriot and first Loyalist killed here in 1775 during the first Revolutionary War land battle in the South.

During the day, walk our historic trails, see our museum, historic oil paintings, gift shop, and 10 minute DVD in our Visitor Center, then stay for our Candlelight Tour.

Tickets will not be given out earlier than 6 pm on October 14. When you arrive, visit our ticket tent near the main parking area to get your tickets.

There is no charge to attend the activities, however, donations are accepted. All donations are used for events within the park.

Additional parking will be available.

Please bring a flashlight & wear comfortable walking shoes.

Reservations are only necessary for groups.

In case of rain, the event will be cancelled and not rescheduled.
