How to book a
Homeschool program:
Most Frequently Asked: · When are the homeschool programs offered? All Homeschool programming takes place on select Tuesdays in the Conservation Station. · What does the price include? Pricing includes: Program, vocabulary words and Post - Activity Sheets. (Vocabulary is included with the confirmation letter and post-activity sheets are disbursed the day of each program.) · Are there age requirements for the programs? Programming is broken into two age categories: Ages: 5yrs 7yrs and 8yrs 10yrs · Is it necessary to pre-register for the programs? To participate in a Homeschool program pre-registration is required. Fill out the attached registration form (sign up for one program or all listed for that age group) and mail it to: Greenville Zoo ~ Attn: Homeschool Programming ~ 150 Cleveland Park Drive ~ Greenville SC 29601 Registration for the homeschool program is mail-in only no phone-in registration. Please fill out one registration form per participant (please make copies if necessary). Registration deadline for each program is two weeks prior to date of program. · Can I register for more than one program at a time? Yes. Fill out the attached registration form and choose one, two or all classes. Or you may choose to sign up for each individual class each month just keep in mind there are registration cut off dates. A registration packet will be mailed to you for each class that you are registered for. · Are there a minimum and maximum number of students you will allow for a program? We do require a minimum of 8 and have set a maximum of 25 for each program. If the minimum is not achieved, the Greenville Zoo Education department reserves the right to cancel the class and refunds will be issued. · If I need to cancel will I get a refund? A 50% refund will be given if cancellation is made two weeks before the scheduled program. If cancellation is made within the two-week window a refund will not be issued. · If I want to stay in the classroom with my child and bring a sibling, may I?You may stay with your child however, only registered students of each individual program may attend class. · How will I know if my child got into the program? As soon as we receive the registration along with program payment, we will send you a confirmation letter reviewing date and time of program(s), zoo rules, points to remember, and vocabulary words. It is important that you show your confirmation letter to the ticket booth upon admittance the day of your program. The Greenville Zoos Education department offers lively, hands-on programs sure to engage students as they learn. Programs are 45 minutes unless otherwise noted. Note: Although topics may be the same for each age group, the material will be age appropriate. October 17thRegistration Closed: October 3rd Herbivores, Omnivores, Carnivores, oh my! Time: 10:15am Ages 5yrs 7yrs Time: 11:15am Ages 8yrs 10yrs (5yrs 7yrs) Do you eat plants, meat, or both? Lets talk about what animals eat. (8yrs-10yrs) Look at teeth in order to decide what animals eat. Using skulls, we explore the predator - prey connection.

Learn about common insects and their defenses. We will also take a look at some insects not found around these parts. December 12thRegistration Closed: November 28th Wonders of Water Time: 10:15am Ages 5yrs 7yrs Time: 11:15am Ages 8yrs 10yrs Explore the magical world of water and learn how water connects animals to you and you to the zoo. Create, experiment, play, and learn why it's no wonder that water is truly amazing! January 16thRegistration Closed: January 2nd The 4 Rs Time: 10:15am Ages 5yrs 7yrs Time: 11:15am Ages 8yrs 10yrs We are committed to reducing the amount of waste going to the landfill and by following the 4 R's, everyone can help make a difference. We see them everyday. Join us as we build a plant and discuss what animals and people use plants for. March 20thRegistration Closed: March 6th Backyard Birds Time: 10:15am Ages 5yrs 7yrs Time: 11:15am Ages 8yrs 10yrs Get ready for the exciting adventure of learning about birds. Learn how to attract various bird species to your yard and identify them by looking at their special physical characteristics. Be on your way to becoming an ornithologist. Zoo Tots For children ages 2 and 3 cover a wide range of topics and utilize parent/child interactions in classroom activities. Ask for a current flyer. Saturday Safaris For children ages 4 to 9 combine lessons with crafts, activities, and excursions into the zoo and animals in the classroom. Ask for a current flyer. Zoo Camp A summer program that revolves around a theme, and we explore it through the classroom and behind-the-scenes activities with the zookeepers. Camps for ages 4-11 are held throughout the summer months. Volunteer/Docent Opportunities For teenagers (ages 14-18) and adults (over 18).
